For the longest time my "work pants" were basically old pants that were one step away from the recycle bin. The mentality was they were going to get paint on them, soiled, or torn. And since they were old, they tore pretty easily. Then I was on a job site with a friend that had pants with built-in pockets for knee pads. He really liked them. I have tried in vain to find a pair of strap-on knee pads that will stay in-place, and not cut-off the circulation to my legs. So I figured I would give these pants a try. Glad I did!I barely notice the knee pads, but when I kneel down, I feel their protection. They don't end-up around my ankles, ever. I don't have to go out to my truck to get them, because I am always wearing them! The knee pad feature makes them well worth the money. There are other features that won't be found on an old pair of jeans. A hammer loop is handy for not just a hammer, but other tools as well. Plenty of extra pockets for a cell phone, pencils, carpenter crayons, etc. The hip pockets have another "utility pocket" inside that can be pulled out to hang outside the hip pockets. it is great for carrying small parts. When doing finish work and you don't want to put on a full tool belt, these utility pockets are just the ticket. There is plenty of room so they are comfortable to bend-over or sit. The waist does NOT have elastic, so it won't expand and ride down your hips when tools are weighing-down the pants. However, I got them one size larger than my usual size. (I take a 34, but got a 36.) This gives plenty of room, and comfort. Most of my work is doing solar installs, which means being up on a roof or ladder a lot. A roof is a lame surface to place parts or tools. Everything just wants to roll right off the roof. Spending a half hour looking for a bolt, in a bush, is a waste of time; and doesn't look very professional. When considering the cost of a tool, I'm willing to spend more on it if I will use it a lot. I've spent more on these pants + knee pads than I ever have on any pair of pants. However, now that i see how much more comfortable they are (vs. wearing strap-on knee pads), and how the extra pockets make me more productive, I wish I had purchased them years ago.Highly recommended! :-DThe only down-side is the 3 week wait for them to arrive. I guess I'm spoiled by the usual 1-3 day Prime delivery. They might have had to restock or something. They were worth the wait.
